Great Lakes Shipwreck Diving Course Deep Diver, Boat Diver and Wreck Diver Specialties Spring 2011
Course Prerequisites: Open Water Diver certification with Nitrox and Dive Computer training. Dry suit certification may be useful, but a high quality two piece 7mm wet suit is very suitable for Michigan summer diving.
The course specialties support advanced diving opportunities in Michigan and beyond. Specialty topics will include deep, boat and wreck diving.
After successful completion of this course and a total of 24 or more logged dives, you will qualify to apply for the prestigious SSI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification card.
Accomplishing the objectives of this course distinguishes you as an experienced diver with the commitment, training and demonstrated skills needed to dive maximum recommended recreational depths and popular Michigan shipwrecks.
Course Requirements: Class participants will need three SSI specialty manuals. Divers should own their scuba diving equipment or make arrangements to rent from Seaquatics. Additional specialty equipment may be recommended as appropriate for use during open water dives.
Classroom: Class orientation April 27, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Seaquatics
Diving: The class will schedule dives at Gilboa Quarry plus two days of charterd shipwreck diving in the Straits of Mackinaw.
Cost: $ 250 Gilboa Dive Center and Charter fees extra
